Bio
María Pia Torrejón (Lima, 1982)
Bachiller en estudios generales letras en la pontificia Universidad Católica.
Mención honrosa en la carrera de Artes visuales de la escuela de bellas artes Corriente Alterna. Titulada en la universidad de San Marcos. También egresó de la carrera de fotografía en el Centro de la Imagen. Ha tenido dos exposiciones personales en Lima y varias exposiciones colectivas, Museum of the Americas, Miami, 2011; Centro cultural Ricardo Palma, 2013; Centro cultural del Británico, 2016 y con Fixed Gallery en el centro cultural de Brasil, 2019. Trabaja como pintora, ilustradora y fotógrafa.
Statement
Architecture, urban planning and design are predominant themes in my recent work. Three attempts by human beings to give tangibility and structure to the individual, collective and everyday space we inhabit. Three expressions in constant tension and revision due to our current lifestyle.
Human beings demand more predictable urban spaces. Globalization and the new mobility and consumption patterns require an administration of spaces that determines common patterns that generate security rather than well-being.
On the other hand, the climate threat has caused architects, urban planners and designers to constantly search for sustainable and efficient solutions that achieve a more permanent balance between natural and human-made elements.
