Statement
Ana Cecilia’s discourses go from the vanishing aesthetics and ways of living from the past, inherited from the Colonial and Republican times to the concern for the construction of a new urban morphology related to the economic, political and social changes mostly produced by migration and globalization in South America these last decades. In the discourses related to contemporary times, she focuses on the changes of the subject, of the city and in bringing to date ancestral elements as she does with Pre-Inca textiles where the references seem to appear mostly invisible. Ana Cecilia has worked with fabrics with prints about nature and geometrical forms with different objectives and meanings in different moments of her career . In her most recent works, “painting” is an appropriated fabric that she hardens losing the textile’s attribute, transforming into a tridimensional painting.
