Statement

My work comes from an investigation involving the process and result of traditional printmaking. I intend to retrieve the addition-and-subtraction-of-material method by which a matrix is made, not as a process to print an image, but as its result and physical component. I work mainly with wax and stoneware ceramics. These are altered or mixed with different inks in order to create intercalated layers that are then carved, making an image appear. The line is the gesture with which I make that image. It is subject to the medium’s limits, establishing a connection of continuity or a crack, depending on its composition or its own nature.
What I do consists of a technical exploration with unexpected results, which occur due to similar processes with different elements, testing the limits of the materials’ properties, working neatly to unknown behaviours.
