Artur Lescher

Bio

(b. 1962, Sao Paolo) is a Brazilian contemporary artist that creates post-minimal installations and sculptures of architectural strength. For more than thirty years, Lescher presents a solid work as a sculptor, which results from a research around the articulation of materials, thoughts and forms. His artworks transform the space creating new planes and engaging the viewer into different perspectives. Cuts, planes, lines and hollows are used by Lescher to transmit a mysterious silence and a poetic calm. The equilibrium of those forms is an invitation to contemplation and meditation.
Lescher participated in the 19th and 25th editions of the São Paulo International Art Biennial, São Paulo/SP, Brazil (1987 and 2002), and in the 5th Mercosul Biennial, Porto Alegre/RS, Brazil (2005). He participated in several collective exhibitions in Latin America, Europe and the United States.
