Statement

His work takes as its starting point the fusion of various elements of the popular Peruvian culture that the artist merges and reinterprets in a neo-pop key. With a plastic resolution close to American concretism, to Russian constructivism and the Bauhaus. In the words of the curator Max Hernández Calvo, it could be said that Cabieses builds the pictorial field as a diagram: a schematic representation of information and, therefore, a model that is not properly abstract or figurative. The mathematical precision with which Cabieses place the items on the surface of the canvas, maintaining a delicate balance between shapes and a configured unit within the format, defines the poetics that characterize this body of work.
