Óscar Abraham Pabón
Bio
Óscar Abraham Pabón bases his research on the soul search for new meanings for forms and materials. In his language the geometric and the abstract are transformed to endow the objects with other readings.
Brick is a recurrent element in Pabón's work, a material traditionally used in construction but transformed by means of ceramic glazes and drilled with a percussion hammer, in the manner of a stiletto on marble, it takes on new meanings. "One can work with things taken from everyday life such as bath towels or a simple chewing gum; the interesting thing is to observe the possibilities and new dialogues with the objects, to insist on seeing beyond the thing itself, to see another possible reality by means of common objects, small things". Statement
Inaugurated at the end of 2001, the Fernando Pradilla Gallery aims to promote and disseminate contemporary art that takes place in Latin America and Spain, acting as a bridge of knowledge of artistic expressions from both continents.
Since its inception, the strategy has been based on the identification of artists, both emerging, mid-career and historical, and on the programming of individual and collective exhibitions in Madrid and other Latin American cities. The gallery participates in international art fairs in Latin America, Asia, Europe, and promotes the representation of its artists in biennials, awards, competitions, and exhibitions in national and international art centers.
