When Gabriela Benaim Ginnari launched gbgarts.com in 2000, this digital art gallery became the first Venezuelan-only virtual community devoted to the promotion of local artists. With Mario Matos, Benaim went on in 2005 and 2007 to create ‘El Espacio’, an arts venue in Las Mercedes, Caracas. Two years later, gbgarts went real under the label GBG ARTS®.
Gabriela Benaim, founder and director of GBG ARTS®, carries on an interest in cultural administration that runs in her family. Both her parents, Consuelo Ginnari and Ricardo Benaim, are well-known artists as well as cultural managers.
The Gallery employs a variety of means to promote Venezuelan modern and contemporary art: temporary solo and group exhibitions, permanent displays (e.g. Pixel Formats®), integration of art and architecture projects, investment in art projects advisory services, information and promotion material publishing services, distribution of catalogues and books on artists’ work related to the Gallery.
