Statement
For Rocío Gómez, art is a space from which human behavior is observed. Rituals, habits that materialize and repeat in specific forms. It is not about exceptional expressions, they are rather close, everyday of the world we inhabit. Images, phrases, objects, body movements, or thoughts are part of a wide universe that works as mandates to execute ideas. Playing these shapes over and over again establishes a recognizable pattern. Her discomfort or fascination with any of these forms shapes her creative process. Gomez needs to understand what the message is, how it is constructed, and how it affects her. Using the representation technique that best suits each project, Gómez appropriates the form and proposes a selection. The very process of playing and forming a group allows us to poll the content. Actions such as appropriation, change of scale, copying, repetition or the generation of a new order allow her to emphasize what she wants to highlight.
