Statement

William Cordova's installations, sculptures and works on paper are closely related to his cross-cultural trajectory that has taken him from Lima, Peru, where he was born in 1971, to Miami, Florida, and many other places where he has resided or spent time in the United States and Europe. The themes he embraces stem from radical movements and games of self-determination. "Revealing the intersections between magical realism and social realism, organizing collisions between ancient and recent histories, oral traditions and revolutionary texts to give way to an in-between, transitional and ultimately transformative space." (Rashida Bumbray)
She received her MFA from Yale University in 2004 and her BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1996.
