Michiko Aoki

Bio

Japanese sculptor living in Peru since 1979. Aoki usually describes her work as a conversation with the material, she creates by dialoguing with it, seeking that this contact be the one that shows her the way to sculpt in it within the vast horizon of abstraction.
She has participated in various collective exhibitions, both in Peru and abroad.

Statement

The silent stone announces its reason for being. When, between me and the stone, the silence visits us, an intuition comes flying towards me. At this moment, the stone and I are face to face.
I carry that fortune on my chest.
I open the first door.
