Statement
His abstract work (hard edge and formalism) includes studio pieces (painting & sculpture) and interventions in public and private spaces (site-specific art and graffiti). In an analysis of the surrounding reality, he is interested in synthesizing it by analogy with materials of opposite density and tonalities.
The series of black acrylic paintings show high-contrast forms (color field), straight and tangible, revealing the materiality of vertical brushstrokes on the (apparently) raw canvas; they generate a dynamic sensation in the static support, exposing references to industrial design, popular logos, fashion, science fiction, modern architecture, etc., through large, levitating forms, with sharp breaks and diagonal repetitions.
This phase of resuming the classic technique of painting on canvas is the result of the confinement season, a moment of resilience and a return to artisan processes (replaced by spray paint).
