David Gagnon

Bio

Canadian artist graduated from UQAM in visual arts (master's degree), lives and works in Montreal. His artistic practice focuses on questions relating to the image in the painting. His work has been presented at the
following institutions (among others): Musée d'art contemporain de St-Jérôme, Maison des arts de Laval, Maison de la culture Côte-des-Neiges, Verticale gallery, Joyce Yahouda gallery.

Statement

In his work, painting and reading seem to merge, creating a space-time melting pot that is usually specific to them.
Cover, blank text, gutter, spine, rib, endorsement, spine, title piece, ranger, page, blank foot, brief, the body of the book, on one side, or frame, false frame, panel, canvas, passe - partout, brace, glaze, impasto, marouflage, all of this converges in an impossible topography patiently and methodically constructed, of worlds that bear worlds.

The piece of paper in this box was found on the street. I like its shape, but also the quality of the color due to the thin layer of dust covering it.
