Jimena Fuertes
Bio
Jimena Fuertes La Plata (1972).
Fuertes's work is made up of geometric objects and installations, where the relationships he establishes between shapes and space are born from the symbolic and the influence of geometric abstraction.
The artist worked during an extensive period of her career in a line of geometric abstraction on the plane where the forceful communicability of the image was an evident purpose. The precision of the forms through straight lines, parallel bands, triangles, octagons, full figures, and colors in saturation, were essential components of her pictorial language.
Gradually, the shapes began to detach from the background and become linked with real space. Geometry changed its mode of presence in the work, autonomy turned each figure into an object. Thus, a distance shot with the wall took place. The figures pierced their center, became openwork and their edges linear, still with the wall as a support.
Additional information
